Alejandro Camuñas

Senior Character TD (Rigger)

When I was 12, I played Dragon Age: Origins, a dark fantasy RPG, for the first time. I remember sitting in the party camp, talking to one of the characters, and being completely blown away by the experience. The art, music, writing, and performances all came together in a way that made me feel something I didn’t even know how to describe.

I remember thinking: I want to do that.

I wanted to create things that could make other people feel the way that game made me feel.

Over the years, I tried a bit of everything, constantly bouncing between art and technology. Eventually, almost by accident, I discovered rigging. I didn’t even know what it was at the time, but it turned out to be this perfect combination of animation, 3D modelling, physics simulation, and programming.

And I absolutely loved it.

I usually describe rigging as “the art of solving problems.” There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking a complicated technical or artistic problem, figuring out how all the pieces fit together, and turning it into something that actually makes other people’s lives easier.

If you’ve never considered rigging or technical animation before, I genuinely encourage you to give it a try. That’s one of the things I love most about game development: there are so many different disciplines, and they’re all deep, creative, and interesting in their own way. Sometimes the area you least expect can end up being the one that completely clicks with you — just like rigging did for me.

As a mentor, I’d love to help you explore that process. Whether you’re trying to understand character rigs, learn Unreal Engine, get into technical animation, or simply figure out what part of game development is right for you, I’m happy to work through problems together and help you build the skills and confidence to tackle them yourself.

I can be most helpful with:

  • Character rigging for games and animation
  • Physics and cloth simulation, especially in Unreal Engine
  • Technical animation and the logic behind moving and animating characters in-game
  • Unreal Engine Blueprints and gameplay prototyping
  • Python tools and scripting for 3D software
  • Programming fundamentals and learning how to approach technical problems

Outside of game development, I’m still a huge fan of story-driven games. Some of my favourites are Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, and Outer Wilds. I’m also a big animal and nature lover, and recently I’ve started getting serious about scuba diving, which I find absolutely fascinating.

But honestly, the thing I enjoy most is people. I love meeting new people, learning how they think, and helping them figure things out.

So if you’re curious about game development, struggling with a technical problem, or just want someone to explore the industry with, let’s meet!
